Our Super Boy

Our Super Boy

We are so proud of our super boy. He is continuing to surprise us day by day with his determination to prove the people that have doubted him wrong.
As most of you will be aware, Alex has a developmental speech delay which made it difficult for him to communicate. This led to him getting frustrated on a regular basis.

Since Alex started at the nursery school back in September 2014, we have seen progress happening on a week to week, even  day to day basis.

We are so proud of him and how far he has come. The staff have been great, in particular his key workers, and they have worked hard with him and us to help Alex to achieve so much.
Alex's speech is coming along nicely and he is gaining more and more confidence every single day. He has many big achievements to date which include becoming independent with toileting.

This was a big deal to him and us because with his speech difficulties he was unable to let anybody know he needed the toilet and so was still in his pull ups until February of this year (2015). Some people of course made comments about him being 4 and still in pull ups. Some said he was lazy and a couple actually said that as his parents we were 'babying' him and not encouraging his independence. This really bugged me. I mean what right does anyone have to judge our parenting  and especially what right do they have to judge our Son? Like I have said before, people should ask us instead of judging.

The nursery school were fab with helping us to give Alex his independence in this area and we were all surprised how quickly he mastered it. It only took him 3-4  days in February and he is so confident with it now.

Alex is surprising us by the day with his speech - He is more and more confident and the most amazing thing for us as his parents is that we can hold a conversation with our super Son and understand everything that he says. We are so very proud to be his parents and we are so grateful to our families and friends who have supported us and most importantly have supported Alex. We know that he still has a long way to go but we are so chuffed at how far he has come.

Over the past few weeks he has been working hard on his jolly phonics at nursery and home and is already very familiar with the following sounds; s,a,t,p,i,n,c,k,e.  Alex is also loving counting and is constantly counting everything.

We are so blessed to have had the opportunity to send Alex to the nursery school that he has attended and we are so thankful for all that they have done for him.
All our Son wants is for people to believe in him and to give him a chance. He is such an amazing little boy who is so determined to succeed in life despite his speech issues.
