Christmas 2015 - A Magical Time of Year

Growing up both myself and Mark had traditions that we did with our families at Christmas, so we wanted to continue that with Alex.

Christmas Eve

The elves left a Christmas eve box for Alex. Inside he found a new pair of Christmas pjs, a Christmas dvd, sweets and a Christmas book we read before bedtime. Alex loved receiving his box and straight away he wanted his new pjs on.
After we had all changed into our pjs, we put on the dvd and all snuggled up on the sofa.  Following the dvd, we got the nativity out and told the story of the birth of Jesus with us all playing the different parts. Alex absolutely loved acting out the story.
The final thing to do before bedtime was to get the treats ready for Santa and his reindeer. Alex insisted that the reindeer had extra food because they "fly everywhere taking Santa to houses".

Christmas Day

Alex was so excited when he woke up to find Santa's footprints in the house. He couldn't believe his eyes and was very happy when he saw that the food had been eaten too.
We had a lovely day with family, eating yummy food, opening gifts and having fun together.

Christmas to us is all about spending time as a family, focussing on the true meaning of Christmas and  seeing the magic of Christmas through a child's innocent eyes - Its amazing to see the joy and sparkle in his eyes when opening his simple gifts but being so excited. Even though we couldn't afford a tremendous amount for Alex, he didn't mind and was so happy to have the gifts that he did and that to us makes our life worthwhile.
